I was hoping that Venture Party would be akin to games like Munchkin, and while it's definitely it's own thing in a lot of ways, it's not far off from 'new classics' like that. It's easy to learn; at first the rounds were taking a l little over 30 minutes, but after playing a few times with the same people they were taking maybe 20-25. While you can definitely play this game with 3 or 4 people, it's far more fun with 5-7. I really liked another reviewer's comment about it combining luck and strategy, because it's very true. My friends and I play a lot of board and tabletop games, and I'm the first to admit that I'm the least skilled of all of us at them...but just about anyone willing to take a short amount of time to learn Venture Party has a chance!

My crew really loved this game, children and adults alike. It is rated for ages 13+ but we played with a 10 and 12 year old and both of them had no problem following along with the game play. The cards each have a point value assigned to them and contain extremely colorful and humorous hero images on them. Each card will have a task for you to complete, such as, take 2 coins from another player, or collect all cards from all players and without looking, re-deal them to the players, etc. The game is played in rounds and you want to have the highest point value of heroes, along with the most coins at the end of the game. You have to decide to play a high point card so that you can reap the benefits of the tasks or keep the card to add to your total score at the end of the game, but beware, the cards you hold in one round may not be the same cards you hold in the next. This was a fun game that resulted in many laughs and trash-talking as we battled to get to the end without dying, while maintaining a high scoring set of cards and plenty of loot. I highly recommend this game.
